Data Architect (Banking)

Our client, a global provider of IT services, requires an experienced Data Architect with a background in Banking to join their Transformation department in Leeds. This is a temporary 6 month contract with possible extension, to start ASAP. you can work remotely until covid abates.

We require candidates with experience of data solutions used to provide transaction processing, master data management, data services, document and content management capabilities and expertise in Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Data integrator & PL/SQL.

Job Purpose and primary objectives:

  • Defining and socialising data principles and data framework to underpin transformation goals
  • Aligning business requirements to data capabilities and delivering these capabilities
  • Assessing operational resources required to deliver change and managing workloads of Data resources to deliver a data platform aligned to the requirements
  • Defining modern insights and analytics platform required to support digital transformation.
  • Providing architectural oversight across all business data change

Key Responsibilities:

  • Logical data modelling, using techniques such as Entity-Relationship modelling and conversant with notations such as Barker, Bachman, IDEF1X, Information Engineering, STEP or UML
  • Development of data and information strategies, including alignment of strategy with business and IT strategy
  • Expertise in data integration and interoperability, including, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) patterns, and data integration patterns (e.g. ELT/ETL)
  • Engagement with colleagues at all levels (Developer, Designer, Program Manager, Director etc)
  • Effective communicator that can explain complex technical concepts to executives and business leaders
  • Work with client teams to design and implement modern, scalable data solutions using a range of new and emerging technologies
  • Work with Agile and DevOps techniques and implementation approaches in the delivery
  • Bring your experience and ideas to innovative engineering, design and strategy
  • Contribute to our internal networks and special interest groups
  • Well-rounded knowledge of technical and non-technical aspects of data management, including Reference Data Management, Data Quality Improvement, Metadata Management, Data Marketplace and Data Governance
  • Ability to apply analytical and creative thought process. Proven success in contributing in a multi-location team-oriented environment
  • Ensure delivered solutions are realized in time frame committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk
  • Outlining a vision, strategy and roadmap for data management well as developing the case for change to support that vision
  • Experience on integration and use of data architecture tools. Regulatory and Compliance work in Data Management
  • Development of data and information strategies, including alignment of strategy with business and IT strategy

Key Skills/Experience required:

  • In-depth understanding of reference and solution architectures for data and document management and/or data warehouse architecture, star schema and data vault designs
  • Should be able to define reference architectures, strategic roadmap for the data management concepts at an organisation level
  • Hands on technical skills to catalogue data, build data models
  • Able to write/understand SQL queries, store procedures, define indexes, create logical and physical data models etc
  • Expertise in data integration and interoperability, including, Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) patterns, and data integration patterns (e.g. ELT/ETL)
  • Selecting Master Data Management toolset and integration partner to support Customer Journeys and GDPR
  • Must be a thoroughly coherent communicator, who can own and manage a solution
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Any experience of IBM tools IDA; IGC
  • Expertise in Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Data Integrator and PL/SQL
  • Experience of data abstraction and virtualisation tools (e.g. Denodo)
  • Experience of data solutions used to provide transaction processing, master data management, data services, document and content management capabilities
  • CDMP or TOGAF certification is plus
  • Understand Banking domain with regulatory, Compliance and customer journey experience
  • GDPR background is a plus
  • Development of data and information strategies, including alignment of strategy with business and IT strategy
  • Experience working across Digital Transformation programmes
  • Excellent analytical skills and a logical approach to problem solving
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills, with the ability to manage expectations and explain technical detail
