Infrastructure Architect
Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Infrastructure Architect to be based in their client’s office in Reading,
This is a Hybrid role and you will be able to work some days remotely.
This is a 6+ month temporary contract to start asap.
Day rate: Competitive Market rate.
The Role:
The right candidate will join the client’s Infrastructure Design team, reporting to the Tech Architecture Practice Lead, and have shared responsibility for platform elements of the infrastructure design, with a focus on Virtualisation, Server and Database solutions; helping to shape the client’s infrastructure strategy in conjunction with the EUC and Network Architects.
The Infrastructure Architects are the key point of contact for all ICT projects requiring engagement around platform and virtualisation designs or changes. You will work closely with security teams, Solution and Enterprise Architects, to provide expertise and input into business projects and high-level designs from concept to delivery. You will design, review and provide architectural governance to ensure solutions are fit for purpose for the client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Architectural governance and design leadership for assign strategic projects
- Architectural guidance to multi-functional teams including oversight of build, test and implementation
- Demonstrate value to the client at both cost and functional levels of design decisions
- Provide technical design assurance for new projects, operational change and enhancements
- Create high- and low-level technical documentation to support project delivery, ensuring close adherence to VMware Verified Design standards
- Systems reviews to assess existing systems and produce As Is architectural documentation
- Provide direction and take design ownership for elements of the infra architecture, including but not limited to: Microsoft Infrastructure Elements including:
- Load Balancing
- Access, Identity and Security controls
- Solution DR Design
- High Availability
Key Requirements:
- Exposure to business critical, high availability solution design and deployment
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of and hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server, SQL, Active Directory, PowerShell, Entra ID, Microsoft Azure, M365
- Understanding, at a design level, of requirements for core supporting Infrastructure technologies, i.e. networking, storage, identity management, security, etc
- Proven track record of infrastructure design and delivery
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to all stakeholders
Good to have:
- Relevant Professional Qualifications (MCSE, etc)
- TOGAF or equivalent
- Excellent communicator, effective problem solver and decision maker
- Pro-active, energetic, inquisitive and positive
- Ability to operate and deliver within a highly pressurised and fast paced environment
