Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires an experienced Lead Solution Architect to be based in their client’s office in Wokingham, UK.

This is a hybrid role – you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Wokingham office 3 days per week.

This is a 6+ month temporary contract, to start asap.

Day rate: Competitive Market rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Architect to drive implantation and design across scalable, secure, and robust infrastructure solutions that support end customer delivery of mission critical capabilities
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise-wide infrastructure future state architecture, strategy and roadmap
  • Ensure alignment of infrastructure architecture with the organisation’s business goals and IT strategy
  • Advise and provide consulting for new technologies to improve infrastructure capabilities and efficiency
  • Focus the enterprise architecture effort at the conceptual and logical level, and partner closely with enterprise security and infrastructure teams to translate into physical design
  • Architecture design – Create and maintain infrastructure blueprints and roadmaps aligned with client objectives and technical requirements
  • Technology evaluation – Assess and recommend emerging technologies to enhance system performance, scalability, and security
  • Implementation oversight – Lead infrastructure projects to ensure timely, budget-friendly, and quality completion with the Delivery Architecture Teams
  • Collaboration – Integrate closely with development, security, and operations teams for optimal infrastructure performance
  • Documentation – Maintain detailed documentation of designs, configurations, and processes for knowledge sharing and efficiency
  • Performance tuning – Monitor and improve infrastructure performance by addressing bottlenecks
  • Security – Design and implement infrastructure with strong security practices and compliance
  • Disaster recovery – Develop and maintain plans for disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Vendor management – Oversee third-party vendors to ensure high-quality, cost-effective solutions
  • Governance – Present your designs to through governance boards both to technical and non-technical board members

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in infrastructure architecture with a strong focus on Physical Data Centre implementations, Data Comms Rooms setup and management
  • Azure Cloud environments – Azure SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, SAML, SCIM, PKI
  • Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing modern workplace and EUC solutions, including Microsoft 365 and Azure Entra ID
  • Proven understanding of VMWARE, servers, storage, and data centre modernisation
  • Familiarity with IT security principles, architecture best practices, TOGAF framework, and Enterprise Architecture standards
  • Leadership experience and proficiency in Project Management or Agile delivery practices (SCRUM / KANBAN)
  • Experience in infrastructure and application monitoring technologies (Logic Mon and Dynatrace) would be beneficial
  • Ability to rapidly understand the business, commercial and technical requirements to write clear and concise technical designs is vital
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills are essential
  • Must be able to lead workshops and reduce complex ideas to simple terms and express rationale for decision making to both a technical and non-technical audience
  • Experience with complex projects and programmes, requiring highly available, disaster recovery and business continuity compliant systems in a large enterprise
  • Exceptional collaboration and team-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organisation
  • Strong interpersonal skills & cross-functional collaborations required
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality outcomes

Technical Skills:

  • This is not a hands-on engineering role, but technical understanding and functional experience in any three of these areas is desirable:
  • Azure Cloud technologies
  • Microsoft Enterprise product suite including VDI solution
  • Network solutions
  • Server infrastructure including Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Databases platforms – Oracle, IBM, AzureDB
  • Software Defined Data Centre – Virtualisation
  • Storage, Hyper-converged, Converged Infrastructure Solutions
  • Backup/ disaster recovery| business continuity
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures
