Our client is a values-based company, deeply rooted in science and innovation. They are looking for Network Engineers to be based in St. Albans, UK. The role involves strategic planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of LANs, WANs, and associated hardware and software components. The Network Engineer will be responsible for resolving network-related issues promptly while providing end-user training and support.

This is a Permanent role to be based on site however there may be an opportunity for the role to become hybrid in the future. They offer a competitive salary and benefits package with annual leave of 22 days plus Bank Holidays.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with department heads to assess network capacity needs.
  • Maintain documentation for network configuration, processes, and service records.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and training plans for network administration and disaster recovery.

Acquisition & Deployment:

  • Design and deploy LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including necessary hardware.
  • Oversee procurement and installation of network equipment and software.
  • Manage VOIP and Audio/Video systems.

Operational Management:

  • Configure networks to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Manage workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Ensure connectivity for all network appliances.
  • Administer servers and perform network asset management.
  • Analyse network performance and manage security solutions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in network hardware, software, protocols, and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation
