Our client, a leading global supplier for IT services, requires experienced Data Migration Specialists to be based at their client’s office in Coventry, UK.

This is a hybrid role – you can work remotely in the UK and attend the Coventry office 3 days per week.

This is a 3+ month temporary contract to start asap

Day rate: Competitive Market rate

The client is seeking for a highly skilled and experienced Data Migration Lead to manage the end-to-end migration of large-scale datasets (1000TB+) from legacy systems into a modern cloud platform based on Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric. This role is pivotal to transforming the data landscape and ensuring business continuity across asset management, and SCADA systems with prior experience in the utilities or telemetry/ SCADA systems domain is a strong plus.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in cloud data architecture, infrastructure, and real-time data integration especially on Azure, Databricks, Synapse and Fabric with proficiencies in streaming platforms, infrastructure automation and Data Governance/ MDM tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Profisee, Informatica, Databricks Unity Catalog etc.).

You will lead initiatives that support real-time analytics, AI/ML, secure data management, and enterprise-wide integration strategies especially within complex environments such as IoT and telemetry systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive data migration strategies, including ETL pipelines, validation frameworks, and data quality controls
  • Oversee the integration of legacy systems (SCADA, SAP PM, Oracle ODS, etc.) into Azure Databricks, ensuring real-time data flow for spatial, time-series, and IoT data
  • Partner with Cloud Engineers, Data Architects, and Governance Leads to build scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical stakeholders, translating requirements into actionable migration plans aligned with business goals
  • Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and user onboarding for internal teams on new tools, platforms, and AI/ MDM practices
  • Ensure all migration efforts comply with data governance and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and internal quality standards
  • Monitor and resolve data quality issues proactively, ensuring data completeness, consistency, and reliability throughout the migration lifecycle
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary data engineering teams, offering guidance, removing roadblocks, and ensuring project success
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies, including rollback plans, data recovery protocols, and contingency testing
  • Apply industry-specific knowledge of water utilities, SCADA systems, and telemetry data to design tailored, future-ready data solutions

Key Requirements

  • Experience in cloud data architecture, infrastructure, and real-time data integration especially on Azure, Databricks, Synapse and Fabric
  • Proficiencies in streaming platforms, infrastructure automation and Data Governance/ MDM tools
  • Data migration plan and strategy including pre-migration, migration and post migration
  • Data validations in pre-migration, migration and post migration
  • Data migration risk and mitigation
  • Data rollback procedures
  • Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Fabric
  • ADLS, Azure Blob, Azure SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Delta Lake, Oracle DB
  • Experience with unstructured data
  • Data Mapping, ETL Mapping
  • Data Governance (Purview, Databrick Unity Catlog)
  • MDM (Profisee, Informatica)
  • Familiarity with ETL tools, Agile/ Waterfall delivery models, with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills coupled with strong leadership, training facilitation, and cross-team collaboration capabilities.
